How much is that fare again?

I know there's a fee for calling a cab. And I do that on mornings when I just know I'll be late otherwise and I'm desparately trying to make a meeting.

My regular cost is $11 ; $12 for rush hour.

I've been charged $13, $14 and today $15 for a cab that has come to pick me up.

You already owe $11 to $15 before you even set foot in the cab?

Why?

That must be a "D.C. thing."

Never heard of that anywhere else.

Well it's the zone system in DC. The zone fare between my apt. and my office is regularly $11, $12 during rush hour. It's not that I owe it going into the cab, it's just that the rate for the trip is set.

Or, as I am discovering, maybe not so set, since the cost for calling for a cab seems to be anywhere from an addition $1 to $3.

The base fare is $11, if its rush hour and a dispatched cab add $3, so it should not be more than $14 at the most.

From Adams Morgan to Clevland Park its only 2 zones which is $8.80 (non rush hour and no dispatch)

Okay. Now I understand. Mahalo (Thanks) for the clarification.

I think I would contact your local taxi license agency and provide them with the cab number and driver's name on those who overcharge.

This is petty theft (larceny).

Aloha and have a great day.
